Agnodice lives in the ancient hilltop citadel of the Acropolis. Her favourite structure is the colonnaded Parthenon temple from where she can look out over the city of Athens, once the heart of a mighty Greek empire that stretched far beyond its borders today. This is a land of myths, legends and heroes and Agnodice loves to share their stories with Adonis, her friend the stone marten. She is named for a legendary figure, Agnodice, who is credited as the first obstetrix in ancient Greece. At the time, it was forbidden for women to practice medicine and she was sentenced to death. Fortunately, influential Greek women, whom she had treated, spoke up in support of her and the law was forever changed.
