For ages 2+
A fun, first colour matching game made especially for little hands.
Match letters to the coloured post boxes in this single player activity or multi-player game.
This is a first game activity to teach very young children about basic game play, taking turns and following instructions. In learning about these skills it is not necessary for the game to have a winner, it is about the young child learning to take part. We have included three possible ways of using this game, one of which includes a competitive element. Each game develops further skills.
Game 1
This game can be played as an activity by 1 player or as a game by 2-4 players. Post boxes are assembled and placed in a row on the table. The letter cards are placed face down on the table. The youngest player turns over a letter card, looks at the colour and posts it into the matching coloured postbox. Play then passes to the next player. Play continues until all the letters have been posted.
Game 2
Each player chooses a postbox. The letter cards are placed face down on the table. The youngest player turns over a letter card and if the colour matches their postbox they can post their letter card. If the colour of the letter card does not match the colour of their postbox they return the letter, face down, to the table. Play then passes to the next player. Play continues until all the letter cards have been posted.
Game 3
Each player chooses a postbox. The letter cards are placed face down on the table. As Game 2, however, this game finishes when one player has found and posted all 4 letter cards which match the colour of their postbox. The winner is the first player to find and post all 4 of their coloured letters
